Crisis Respite Services

All parents need support. Our nursery offers a safe, homelike environment for children when families are in crisis or when parents simply need a break to reduce stress. This free service is for children ages 11 and under. It is available 24/7 for crisis situations and weekday business hours for respite. We provide a place where children can experience positive interactions with adults while parents address critical family issues.

Please call 801-229-1181 to schedule an appointment for your child—you must call first to reserve a space in the nursery.

Our nursery has regular business hours (M-Th 8-9; F 8-5; Sat 4-8)

For emergencies and crisis situations it is available 24/7. Please call our offices for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the main reasons that people use the nursery?

Families use the nursery for many different reasons. Things that can be scheduled, like doctor’s appointments, therapy sessions, court, job interviews, etc. can be scheduled any time up to a week prior to the appointment. Parents can also schedule break hours once a week, just for self-care the day before or same-day. We want parents to know that they have a safe place for their children to be so they can do what they need to take care of themselves.

What ages of children do you take?

We provide care for children from newborn through age 11. Once they are 12 we can no longer take them, but we refer to Vantage Point if you are looking for a safe place for your older children.

Do you accept children with disabilities?

We discuss with the parent what the specifics of their child’s disability entails and what type of care they would need. In most cases we are able to make something work, but unfortunately if a child is medically fragile and requires intensive care with specialized training, we may not be able to take them.

How much does the nursery cost?

This is a free service for any family in the community. Donations are welcome, but no fee is required.

Adoption Respite

Respite services are available for families who have adopted at least one child through the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS).

Our adoption respite specialists give parents relief while their children are safely cared for. Usually, respite time is provided in-home, which is helpful for children easily triggered by attachment or abandonment issues.

These services are available in Utah, Wasatch, Millard, and Juab counties. On-site services are also available at our Orem location.

PARENTING CLASSES

We offer a free parenting course in a traditional group setting, or individually, that gives families tools to build strong relationship foundations.

PREVENTION EDUCATION

We seek to prevent abuse through free educational presentations offered to local schools and community groups on age-appropriate topics.

THERAPY

Our specially trained therapists provide counseling for children, adults, and families to help them find hope and healing after trauma.
